Dr. Sukrit Grewal, a pediatric dentist formerly practicing in Abbotsford, British Columbia, has faced serious professional and ethical misconduct allegations. These led to regulatory actions by the BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP), including suspension and monetary penalties.
Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Between April and July 2022, the BCCOHP received multiple complaints alleging sexual misconduct by Dr. Grewal towards female staff members. These included claims of improper touching and sexually charged communications.
Dr. Grewal admitted to engaging in improper touching of a female staff member without consent on one occasion. He also acknowledged that such behavior is unprofessional and acknowledged the importance of strict adherence to undertakings made to BCCOHP.
Failure to Comply with Interim Conditions
During the investigation, Dr. Grewal was placed under interim conditions, including being barred from treating patients and communicating with clinic staff unless a practice monitor approved by BCCOHP was present. Despite these conditions, additional complaints were received alleging that he failed to comply with the undertakings.
The BCCOHP determined that unwanted touching of any person is harmful to the public, even if the direct target is not a patient. This breach of interim conditions further compounded the severity of the allegations against him.
Criminal Proceedings and Psychiatric Evaluation
One of the sexual misconduct matters resulted in criminal proceedings, in which Dr. Grewal agreed to a peace bond (restraining order) against him. As part of the conditions, he was required to attend counseling sessions with a psychiatrist.
The BCCOHP required Dr. Grewal to have the psychiatrist who is treating him provide a report directly to BCCOHP following that treatment, indicating the seriousness of the situation.
Financial Penalties and Suspension
As part of the consent agreement with the BCCOHP, Dr. Grewal agreed to a six-month suspension from practice, which took effect from May 19 through November 19, 2023. He also consented to pay a fine of $2,000 and successfully complete the PROBE Ethics and Boundaries Course before returning to practice.
These penalties reflect the regulatory body’s determination that his conduct was serious and warranted public notification.
Reputation and Employment Impact
Following the suspension, Dr. Grewal is no longer involved with the Children’s Oral Care Centre in Abbotsford. Glow Pediatric Dentistry has taken over the facility and patient care as of September 2023.
His professional reputation has been significantly impacted by these events, and his ability to practice dentistry may be affected by the public nature of the disciplinary actions and the criminal proceedings.
Conclusion
Dr. Sukrit Grewal’s case highlights serious concerns regarding professional conduct and ethical standards in the dental profession. The combination of sexual misconduct allegations, failure to comply with regulatory conditions, and involvement in criminal proceedings poses significant reputational challenges. These events underscore the importance of maintaining strict ethical standards and the potential consequences of failing to do so.

If Grewal can't respect his own staff, how can patients trust him with their kids?
How can someone with such allegations still expect patients to trust them? A pediatric dentist should be the epitome of professionalism, not controversy.
It's absolutely shocking that someone entrusted with the care of children could engage in such unethical behavior. The fact that the regulatory body only issued a temporary suspension feels like an insult to both the victim and the entire community. How can patients ever feel safe again in that clinic? Trust is the foundation of healthcare, and once it's broken, no amount of fines or brief suspensions can fix it.
